Impromptu Adventure #34

I’m calling this impromptu because, my granddaughter was not coming over this weekend, except she asked so cute. And deep cleaning the house and going thru closets can wait another week.

She wanted an adventure day. This was announced after breakfast and during mid-morning snack. Unceremoniously, she continued, “we are being lazy bones today and we need to do something about it”

So we did.

We packed up some snacks, got the doggo in the car, and made a quick stop at Sonic for lunch. I told her it was a car picnic. She laughed and said she hoped ants wouldn’t show up in the car! 🐜🐜🧺

Leaves are starting to turn here, so we went for a drive up to Pinecliffe, CO. I had seen the sign for this little town on my way to other places.

As we drove, we sang along to the radio. It’s funny to have your 7 year old granddaughter ask if we can listen to Tears For Fears and The Clash. It made me smile to hear a little voice in the back seat belting out “everybody wants to rule the world…”.

We found the little town of Pinecliffe CO to be charming. There are just a few houses and a Post Office. Sofia thought that was funny that it was so small.

The leaves were not peak colors yet in this area. I found a map online to show you were to find good color.

On our drive we came across a lovely creek. It was so loud, it made us laugh.

We took a turn that would take us up to Gross Reservoir and down into Boulder. There wasn’t as much color there but we were able drive a lovely grouping of aspen trees that were bright yellow, some had a few tipped orange.

I am enjoying my explorations and adventures. Finding tucked away places and beauty in nature. I especially enjoy taking along my little side kick. I treasure her company on these adventures. Soon she will not want to have girls night with ice cream and movies in bed or drive with no destination, just enjoying things we find along the way.

The goal is 60 new things before I turn 60 and I have 27 more to go and I can’t wait!

About Me

My name is Susan and I turned 59 this week. I was not thrilled about this age or the one that would be coming up next. One celebratory post on social media that included a link, inspired me to try 60 new things or experiences before I turn 60 in 2025. Join me on this journey as I view these adventures through a dirty windshield.

Susan is a mom of 2, grandmother of 1 and owned by 1 dog. Currently living in the Denver, Colorado metro area.
