This weekend, my sidekick and favorite adventure companion and I drove to Littleton, CO to explore.
As we pulled out of the McDonalds drive-thru, Sofia declared that I was her favorite adventure buddy. That right there filled my heart with so much joy, I thought it might burst.
We munched down our lunch on the short trip, singing along with the music. I had no idea what was in Littleton, we were just going to see what was there.
Historic Main Street was getting ready for the holidays. It was picturesque driving down and looking at the various shops.

We found the train station, which made me smile. It’s a quaint little building but really my first thought was the series, Yellowstone. If you are a fan of the show, you’ll get the reference.

We also found a lovely parked called Sterne Park, lots of geese and ducks, lots of puppy dogs having fun chasing the geese and the geese refusing to be chased. There were pine cones just waiting for a little girl to find them.

The town is cute and Hollywood ready. Although, I hope Hollywood doesn’t find it.

There was a memorial rose garden we discovered. Obviously the roses were dormant, but the pale petals were clinging to their stems. Sofia was sad that the roses weren’t in bloom. It was a perfect discussion opportunity about cycles and seasons and how some plants go to sleep and others have to be replanted. I love those little moments with her. I think being a grandparent is mainly getting to have the sweet moments of childhood again. It’s precious time.

We had a good day. It was filled with adventure, fun and memory making. Even after my 60 new thing are completed, we will be looking for more adventures. Hopefully she continues to want to explore and find unexpected beauty in the world.
The goal is 60 new things before I turn 60 and I have 19 more to go and I can’t wait!
