Unplug, Funny Word, Hard Task

How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?

These days, it’s my body that tells me.

I work remotely and am on the phone or Teams for meetings all day, so at the end of the day, I don’t want to talk on the phone much.

Doom scrolling does happen, but mainly when I’m waiting for the meds to kick in.

Fully unplugged time does happen on days when my body rebels against itself. Those days, I’m not able to focus and productivity I’d hard to come by, so it’s TV on a series or movie or serides of movies that I will have on, barely watching and cocooned into my bed with soft clothes and a soft blanket.

I like to believe I unplug more than some but is it truly unplugged if you use your phone to take pictures during unplugged time?

Here are some photos of a recent unplugged time.

PS – For reference I currently have 3 autoimmune diseases and osteoarthritis, unplugging from things is a healing for me, both physically and mentally. If you too have similar things happening in your body, please give yourself grace on what you aren’t able to do the things you used to do. And be kind to yourself, you are not lazy, you are not anti-social, you are not a stick in the mud. There are days when you can do all the things and days when you just need soft clothes.

About Me

My name is Susan and I turned 59 this week. I was not thrilled about this age or the one that would be coming up next. One celebratory post on social media that included a link, inspired me to try 60 new things or experiences before I turn 60 in 2025. Join me on this journey as I view these adventures through a dirty windshield.

Susan is a mom of 2, grandmother of 1 and owned by 1 dog. Currently living in the Denver, Colorado metro area.
