If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?
There are so many places I would love to travel to and explore and so many family and friends I long to see.
If these 2 free tickets appeared, as if by magic, then they would be open tickets that would allow multiple destinations.
So, I would first fly to Texas to see my son and his husband. I would be able to see other my elderly aunt and her daughter, and other family and friends there too.
I would then go to Missouri to see my other aunt and uncle as well as other family. I would visit my friend/sister and godchildren. I would go to the military cemetery and visit my parent’s grave. I have been once for my mom, I’ve not been there after the headstone was updated for my dad.
I would go to Monterey/Pacific Grove, CA and sit at Lovers Point and stare at the water just like I did when I was pregnant with my son.
I would fly to the 14 remaining states that I have not visited. Just to see them and experience those adventures.
I would fly to France to meet up with various cousins and drive to the small village in near Dijon, Burgundy where my Great Grandfather was born and raised until he left in 1904 at the age of 18 to travel alone on a ship to America.
I would go to Italy and see all the normal things, then I would have to go to where the first Christians hid in Rome and neighboring areas. Then to the coast to see the ocean there and learn to make Limoncello.
I would fly to Ireland and see where my mother and father’s families traveled from. Belfast, Galway, Kilkenny, and the Wicklow Mountains.
I would go to Scotland and Wales and Northern England go see where else my father’s family was from and see where the Romans and Vikings invaded.
I would go to Israel, to Jerusalem, to the Garden, to Golgotha, to the tomb, to the upper room. I want to make my way through the shuks and find those can’t live without items. My Great Great Aunt went in the 1970s. When she went to the tomb and back then you could enter it completely. She sat on the small ledge where a body would be and scooted back and forth and asked her friend from her church to take her picture. Her friend asked her, “Why are scooting around like that? It’s sacreligious!” My aunt just laughed and said, “No it’s not! I just want to sit anywhere Jesus might have, so if I have to scoot on my butt all over this country, I will!” Me too, Auntie Lenie, me too. ❤️
I would go to Dubai and see that beautiful spire. I want to go to the souks to discover beautiful things I can’t live without.
I would go to Bali and rent one of those houses with the glass floors that are over the water and eat fruit and seafood and read books. I saw a picture of one as a teenager and it has always been stuck in my head.
I would fly to Australia, there are a few things to explore there and there are some fish that get lost here and there.
I love to travel, doesn’t matter if it’s a car, a plane or cruise ship – I love it. My friends and I used to call our travels together “Adventure Mode”. I would honestly be up for just about any country, and I would be so grateful that I wouldn’t run out of film. Maybe just increase some cloud storage.
Yes, that makes the start of a nice dreamy, fantasy trip just chock full of adventure, doesn’t it?
